Ivan van den Brink graduated with distinction from the University of British Columbia with a bachelor of Applied Science in 1997. Understanding the value of experience in the construction industry for any structural engineer, Ivan chose to work as a framer, building conventional wood frame buildings prior to and during university,
Since graduation, Ivan has been engineering in the structural consulting industry. His design experience has been well diversified with a broad range of projects that include post disaster, institutional, commercial, residential, light industrial, and specialty structures. Design experience includes a balance of conventional wood frame, heavy timber, structural steel, concrete and masonry. While sound engineering principles are a priority, Ivan also takes values partnering with clients, taking a solution oriented approach to structural engineering practice.

Brandon Huebert, P. Eng, Partner
Brandon Huebert graduated with distinction from the University of British Columbia Okanagan in 2012 with a bachelor in Civil Engineering. Since then he has worked on various types of projects including commercial steel buildings, concrete tilt-up, residential single and multi-family dwellings, underground parkades, agricultural buildings, schools and fire training structures. His varied engineering experience, as well as time spent working in the construction industry, give him a unique and well-rounded perspective, and the ability to provide clients with solutions that are both creative and practical.

Kurt Haugseng, P.Eng
Kurt Haugseng graduated in 1989 from lakehead University in Thunder Bay , Ontario with a bachelor of Engineering Degree (honors). Prior to this, Kurt graduated with honours from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 1983. Before obtaining his engineering degree, Kurt worked in construction both as an estimator and carpenter. He also gained experience in bridge construction and inspections with the BC ministry of transportation and Highways and the Ontario Ministry of Transportation and Communications.
Kurt has been practicing as a structural engineer in the structural consulting industry since 1989. During this time , he has been the design engineer for numerous building projects of virtually all sizes, utilizing all types of structural materials. His wide array of experience in the design of post-disaster, institutional, commercial, residential, light industrial, and specialty structures enable him to provide innovative insight and adaptation to virtually all building structural challenges.

Dylan Woelders, Senior Drafting Specialist
Dylan Woelders graduated from the University of the Fraser Valley in 2008 with a certificate from the Architectural Drafting Technician program. Since joining the team at VH Engineering in 2008 Dylan has been involved in a variety of projects, including post disaster, institutional, commercial, residential, multi–residential, light industrial, and specialty structures. Dylan takes pride in paying close attention to detail to provide an accurate and complete set of structural drawings to make things easier for the client during the construction stage. Clients and project schedules are an upmost priority for Dylan, who always makes an extra effort to coordinate and resolve on–site and consultant questions to keep things moving forward.
When not busy at work, Dylan likes to spend his free time away from the desk and computer enjoying all the wonderful outdoors and outdoor activities (such as mountain biking and hiking) our beautiful province of British Columbia has to offer.

Jill Stam, EIT
Jill Stam graduated with distinction from the University of Victoria in 2022 with a bachelor’s in Civil Engineering. Through co-op, she worked as a project coordinator for a large construction management company, and a student engineer for vH Engineering as well as an engineering firm in Victoria. She was also an executive team lead for 3 years on the UVic Seismic Design Team, where she worked with a team to address structural design challenges in a competitive environment. Following graduation, Jill returned to the vH Engineering team as a junior engineer. Her work experience includes conventional wood frame and reinforced concrete design, as well as performing reviews for a variety of projects. Jill enjoys working with a team to produce designs that fill a need and seeing the results in the local community.

Braedan Van Oort, EIT
Braedan Van Oort has completed his 3rd year of the Bachelor of Applied Science at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. He plans to complete his degree and attend UBCO for the fall semester in 2023. Before going to university to purse an engineering degree, and during the summers, Braedan has worked as a framer gaining valuable construction experience. Currently Braedan enjoys designing wood-frame and concrete structures for residential, agricultural, and commercial structures, as well as completing field reviews for various projects.

Casey Vanderwel, Drafting Technician
Casey Vanderwel joined the vH Engineering team in 2021 at the start of his drafting career. Since then Casey has worked on many residential, commercial and agricultural light wood frame projects. Casey is often seen at the ice rink playing hockey through every season of the year.

Tony Tsu, Drafting Technician
Tony Hsu joined the vH Engineering team in 2022 after graduating with an Architectural Drafting Certificate from UFV. Tony has worked on wood frame apartments, concrete parkades, commercial and agricultural projects.

John Alvaran, Drafting Technician
John Alvaran joined the vH Engineering team in 2022 after graduating with an Architectural Drafting Certificate from UFV. John has worked on light wood frame residential projects, renovations, commercial and agricultural projects.

Parker Zacharias, Drafting Technician
Parker first joined the vH Engineering team in 2022 after completing the second year of his Bachelor of Civil Engineering Degree from the University of Calgary. He has now completed his 3rd year of his degree and is back with the vH team for the summer.
Parker’s experience in construction has been a benefit when modelling projects in 3D using Revit and detailing the structural drawing. He has gained valuable experience in structural analysis and steel fabrication through his involvement in the Canadian National Steel Bridge Competition.

Zach Meinen, EIT
Zach Meinen has completed his 3rd year of the Bachelor of Applied Science at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. He plans to complete his degree and attend UBCO for the fall semester in 2024.
Before going to university to purse an engineering degree during the summers, Zach worked in construction on agricultural projects. Outside the office, Zach enjoys playing and watching sports.
